Pet Wellness Care in Sutter Creek, CA

At South Main Veterinary Hospital, we believe annual wellness care is imperative to keeping your pet happy and healthy! The health of your pet is crucial, and preventative care is necessary. We encourage annual wellness checks, vaccinations, and collaborating with us on all aspects of wellness care.

Your veterinarian examines your pet thoroughly and discusses immunizations and overall health during your annual physical visit. It’s critical that your pet gets regular wellness appointments, just as you do with your doctor. Our veterinarians will spend time inspecting your pet from head to tail throughout these appointments.

Pet Preventative Care in Sutter Creek, CA

Preventive care, also known as wellness, is essential to helping your pet live a long, healthy, and happy life.

Internal parasites can make your pet very sick, but they are also quite easy to prevent. The Companion Animal Parasite Council (CAPC) and our vets recommend intestinal screening twice a year. The health of the entire family depends on routine deworming against parasites like roundworm, which can infect humans and cause significant sickness.

Immunizations – Vaccines are a simple way to prevent your pet from life-threatening infections like distemper, and vaccines like rabies protect the entire family because rabies kills both people and pets.

Heartworm Prevention – We recommend monthly heartworm prevention for all pets (Simparica Trio) and annual heartworm testing is required for dogs. Internal and exterior parasite control is vital not only for your pet’s health, but also for their human’s health, as many intestinal parasites, fleas, and ticks can spread zoonotic disease (larval migrans, cat scratch disease, and Lyme disease as a few examples).
